Today, Alderman Debra Silverstein was joined by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) Commissioner Rebekah Scheinfeld to break ground on Phase One of the Devon Avenue Streetscape, which will revitalize Devon between Sacramento Avenue and California Avenue. The Streetscape Project will make Devon safer, brighter, greeneer and more beautiful all the way from Kedzie Avenue to Leavitt Avenue. It will include wider sidewalks, decorative street and pedestrian lighting, paver parkways, benches and seating areas, trees and landscaping, new crosswalks at every intersection, and community identifiers.
