On Thursday night, Alderman Debra Silverstein was joined by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and members of the community for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to dedicate the newly completed first phase of the Devon Avenue Streetscape.

The Streetscape is an ambitious, multi-million dollar project that will completely revitalize more than a mile of Devon Avenue’s densest business district and make a major improvement to West Ridge’s economic health. Phase One was completed this week and constitutes a sweeping transformation of Devon Avenue between Sacramento and California.

“The Streetscape will completely remodel Devon Avenue, making it a top-notch business venue,” said Alderman Silverstein. “Soon Devon will be a safer, brighter, greener and more beautiful destination for shoppers from all over the City of Chicago and beyond.”

Construction on the next phase of the project will continue in the spring, and the entire Streetscape should be completed in 2016. The scope of the project is Devon Avenue between Kedzie and Leavitt.
