welcome to the 50th Ward
The most diverse and wonderful community in the City of Chicago.
Meet Alderman Debra Silverstein
Hello to all my friends and neighbors in the 50th Ward. I am always available and happy to help with any city needs. I hope to hear from you soon!
A Message from Alderman Silverstein
“The 50th Ward is the most diverse and wonderful neighborhood in the City of Chicago. There is nowhere else where you can visit an Indian restaurant, a Kosher bakery, and a Muslim bookstore all within a few blocks. If you live here, you know how great it is. If you don’t, come on up and see what the 50th Ward has to offer!”
Alderman Debra Silverstein

This is an active investigation, but it appears to have been a targeted shooting, and two vehicles may have been chasing each other when the incident occurred. I am deeply saddened to report that a local police officer, who lived in the 50th Ward and worked in the 17th District, was found dead in his home yesterday. The police do not suspect any foul play in the death and we ask that you respect his family’s privacy as they grieve for this tragic loss.
Our police officers have the hardest job there is and they do it without the accolades and praise they deserve. The loss of any police officer is a tremendous tragedy to our entire city. I grieve together with all the officers of the 17th District. ... See MoreSee Less
